About us

Fat Films is a London-based analogue photography lab and creative
platform serving photographers across the UK.

We exist to make analogue photography accessible, human, and community-driven, without sacrificing professional standards. From film development and high-quality scanning to workshops, retail, and film-covered events, Fat Films operates at the
intersection of craft, service, and creative community.

Our Story

Fat Films started back in January 2021 in Cairo as “Fat Films Stop”, three friends, one misshapen developing tank, one scanner, and a lot of late nights. We were processing and scanning film from our own homes, mixing our own black-and-white chemistry and obsessing over quality from day one.

Eight months later, we opened our first office and welcomed our first intern. What began as a small setup slowly grew into a team, a space, and a community. Over time, we developed and scanned 4,422 rolls of film for 1,636 clients, expanding our services from black-and-white to colour, expired film, custom rolls, workshops, and film-based event coverage.

By 2023, Fat Films had become more than a lab. It was a meeting point for people who loved film as much as we did.

In March 2024, due to increasing challenges and restrictions in Cairo, we had to close our doors. But the story didn’t end there.

Now, we’re back, re-launching in London in January 2026. Same values, same care, same obsession with quality. A new city, a new chapter, and a community we’re excited to build again.

Here’s to starting over, the analogue way. 🖤
